PROJECT SIZE
1.6 Million SF

SCOPE PERFORM
Full-depth asphalt pavement removal, installation of base, Soil stabilization, Installation of new concrete curbs, and dolly pads.

NATURE OF THE PROJECT

Union Pacific recently renovated one of its major auto yards in Henderson, Colorado. . Originally the project was budgeted at $4.9 million, the project escalated to $6.5 million due to unsuitable subgrade issues that required additional work before asphalt could be laid. The main objective was a 2-inch mill and overlay on the southern section of the yard. Installation of geogrid and base rock was placed before adding new asphalt. Exceptional performance earned a second phase of the project the following year. Allowing our management team to oversee two additional Union Pacific projects. One of which included the auto yard and the Denver Intermodal Terminal. The auto yard work required refurbishing the heavy haul road by milling 8 inches of asphalt, mixing lime and cement with the existing soil, and then laying/ installing new asphalt. This project came to a total of $1.3 million. Meanwhile, the second project was a container yard project involving a 2-inch mill and overlay of an additional $1 million. This included inlet repairs around the yard and various utility reconstruction tasks.
